5000 Pillar Support Longest bridge

BRIDGE Jiaozhou Bay is open to public vehicle on June 30 2011.
DURING THE 42 kilometers (km), Jiaozhou Bay Bridge which is the world’s longest bridge has four lanes and connects the two districts in the Region of the port city of Qingdao, Shandong, and coastal islands Huangdao.


Travel between the two places is now 30km shorter and reduce by half the travel time for 40 minutes before. It cost US2.3 billion and take four years to complete.
The bridge is supported by 5,000 pillars. According to Guinness World Records, the longest water bridge on the record previously held by the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana, United States, but China is a longer bridge four miles.
Besides speed train, China is also famous for the bridge construction technology. Malaysia to use their own expertise from the country in the Second Penang Bridge project.
Along the 23.5-kilometer bridge is the longest in Southeast Asia, linking Batu Maung on the island and Batu Kawan on the mainland. It is implemented in a joint venture between China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) and UEM Builders Bhd.
The cost of the bridge is about RM3 billion.
The project which started construction in 2008 is expected to be completed by November 2013.
CHEC is a Fortune 500 company known to be involved in projects such as the world’s longest bridge.
The company previously entrusted to build the world’s longest cable bridge linkingSuzhou and Nanpong in China.
It is involved in 21 projects in Malaysia since the 1990s include the reclamation and coastal protection at the Sutera Harbour Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and reclamation work at West Port, Klang, Selangor.
